You never realize how many little chrome pieces, knobs, etc. go into an interior until you have to go over your car and order every single piece individually. This car originally had white deluxe interior with teakwood (lighter than walnut) trim. Since I like to work on my car as often as I can, the top and exterior stripes/accents are black, and I am not a woman, I decided to go with the black deluxe interior with walnut trim (walnut is much more common to find trim for as well). Yes, the black gets a little bit hotter in the summer (this is negligible in reality) and keeping a white interior clean is a pain. For these parts, I used Mustangs Unlimited. They are not the friendliest people on the phone, but their inventory, prices, and selection is amazing. Their online search engine is really bad and you will not get all of results of what they have in stock. I mostly prefer to use online search engines, but with Mustang's Unlimited, you will need to use their catalog. Even though when you call them on the phone, the staff may not be the friendliest, however they are almost always extremely knowledgeable of what they have in stock and will warm up to you after a bit. Most Mustang suppliers have no idea of what they have in stock, but their website search is probably much better. So you have some give with some loss. The long of the short of it, I prefer Mustangs Unlimited for regular everyday repro and some original parts. Sometimes with repro, the parts won't even fit, but everything listed fit perfectly (except for the seat foam). Once again, my trial and error is your gain. Here is a list of all of the parts that you would need to completely
change your interior into Black Deluxe with Walnut Trim (with Mustangs Unlimited
Part Numbers): Huge Props to Grant's Auto Trim in Chattanooga, TN who did an excellent job matching the seats to near original and also giving them a two-tone color combo. This also cost of Grant's re-upholstering the seats cost me just as much as buying the cheapy repro seat covers (no brainer here). On top of re-upholstering the seats and putting in the carpet, they were able to install all of the many little parts that I ordered for the interior VERY professionally. After Console Installed:
Before Console Installed: A 1969 Mustang Convertible originally has 'glue in' windows which keep popping out of window regulator tracks and are a pain in the a$$. A 1970 Mustang Convertible has the same size windows, except in 1970 Ford switch to a bolt-in type. What I did was take the glass out of a 1970 Mustang Convertible and put it in mine (were very hard to find, since a 1970 Mustang Convertible is the rarest of the classic body style). It is so nice to not have to continuously deal with the glue in type windows anymore! |
